Our Innovative Sports Flooring Project Approved with 936,000 TL in Funding!

Within the scope of Aksaray University’s specialization-focused projects, our initiative titled "Development and Biomechanical Validation of Metamaterial-Based Smart Sports Flooring for Gymnasiums"—led by the Dean of our Faculty of Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kayıhan ERBAŞ—has been approved with a budget of 936,000 TL.

The project aims to develop innovative, safe, and performance-oriented smart flooring systems for gymnasiums by leveraging advanced material technologies. The mechanical properties of these flooring systems—such as impact absorption, load distribution, and energy return—will be examined and validated from a biomechanical perspective.

Expected to contribute to the protection of athlete health, the reduction of injury risks, and the enhancement of athletic performance, this project represents an innovative, application-oriented research endeavor that bridges the fields of sports science and engineering.

Aligned with our university’s specialization vision, this study seeks to transform scientific knowledge into value-added technologies and foster the development of domestic sports technologies.
